About the film

"Filipinos Get Some" (2022) in English and Tagalog, written/ directed/ edited/ produced by Michael Manese. R-rated, adult language.

Synopsis: What happens when a guy runs into an ex-girlfriend on his way to propose to his current girlfriend in front of friends in public.

What's it about: Featuring same-sex kissing, fisticuffs, arguments, cursing, this Filipino-centric story covers universal topics such as love, romance, sex, secrets, disclosures, unrequited love and most of all friendship.

What inspired it: One day while walking around Central Park, I saw a group of people, no doubt, friends and family, hanging around to witness a man propose marriage to a woman in front of Bethesda Fountain. They all had their cell phones out to take photos, they had balloons and presents, etc. etc. Once the woman said yes, there was a short celebration and the whole party had to move to the side because another party, friends/ family/ man proposing to woman wanted to have their moment in front of the fountain for their own proposal.

I personally don't like public marriage proposals. I think a moment like that should be held in private. It also won't help who might come in or what might happen while one is proposing.

Special thanks: Thanks to Inwood Art Works for their grant to make this short film.
